The third installment of the Miss Antigua & Barbuda Pageant saw the emergence of Miss Ayana Dorsette as it’s winner from a field of eight beauties on Sunday evening at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (Carnival City).
After competing in the Performing Talent, Platform, Swim-Wear, Evening Wear and Interview (Pre-Show) segments in the 2017 Harney Motors/Ace Enterprises Miss Antigua Barbuda Pageant, the judges saw it fit to crown Ayana Dorsette as the new Queen.
Dorsette captured the awards for Most Spirited, Opening Segment, Best Costume and Best Platform.
The newly crowned Queen took home a prize package which includes: A brand new Ace Ssangyong Korando Jeep compliments Harney Motors Limited, a Civil Engineering Home Plan valued at over $20,000.00, two airline tickets compliments LIAT 1974 Ltd, a Gold Watch and Bracelet compliments Colombian Emeralds, a Smart Television compliments Townhouse Megastore, $5000.00 in cash among other prizes.
After being announced as the 2017 winner, an emotional Dorsette, who hails from the village of Swetes, says she is pleased and humbled by the prestigious honor bestowed upon her noting that it is indeed a blessing to have walked away with the coveted title.
Copping the first runner-up spot was Rohanna Smith, who was also adjudged the winner of the swimsuit and evening wear segments. Smith also received the award for the most disciplined delegate.
She was followed by Afianna Rodney, who was adjudged as the 2nd Runner-up, and given the top accolade in the talent segment as well as prizes for most congenial and the people’s choice award.
In the 3rd Runner up position, Shaquan Yorke, was awarded the prize for the interview segment, which was held prior to the competition.
Prizes were conferred to the unplaced contestants, Linyka Lee took the Most Photogenic Award, Odelia Deazer went home with the Award for Most Improved and the Most Style Reward went to Daniele Fabian.
The 2017 Harney Motors/Ace Enterprises Pageant was held under the theme, “RECLAIMING OUR PRIDE”, under the auspices of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda in collaboration with the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission.
Ayana Dorsette will represent the twin island state in the 56th Jaycees Queen show on Sunday July 30th at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (Carnival City).
