Persons desirous of becoming A Pan Competition adjudicator can sharpen their skills during a two day workshop organized by the Antigua and Barbuda Pan association and The Antigua Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC).
The first session will take place on the 24th June 2016 starting at 3:00 pm and the second on the 25th of June 2016 beginning at 9:30 am, at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
The workshops will educate participants on methods of analyzing and appraising music with a special focus on Steel-bands.
President of the Pan Association, Mr. Patrick “Stone” Johnson says that the workshops are ideal for individuals who have an interest in adjudicating the pan competitions for Carnival and Independence celebrations this year. "The Steelpan is a unique instrument and to be able to assess how it is used in a musical presentation would be a special skill,” he said.
Persons interested in participating in the Pan Adjudicators Workshop are asked to register at the Antigua Barbuda Festivals Office located on the first floor of the Pigotts Mall on Market and Redcliffe streets and the Cultural Division situated on Lower Nevis Street.
Facilitating the workshop this year, are Miss. Nubia Williams from Trinidad and Tobago, Mrs. Lorna Conyette also from Trinidad and Tobago and Mr. Kimdalle Mackellar from Antigua and Barbuda.
Application forms can be obtained Mondays to Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and on Fridays from 8:00 am to 3 pm.
